In 1923, Filipino boxer Francisco “Pancho Villa” Guilledo shattered expectations by becoming the first Asian flyweight world champion. His victory ignited the Great Pinoy Boxing Era, emboldening a nation and diaspora facing the violence of Filipinos in America.

Our soon to be documentary is based on historian Bernard James Remollino’s (@bernardjaames) upcoming book published by @BayaniArt, which tells the incredible story of Villa’s rise to prominence and how his journey changed boxing forever.
