On Saturday, February 20th, Bayani Art facilitated two workshops for our second year at the Pilipino Youth Leadership Conference. PYLC is an annual conference led by Pilipino-American Student Union’s (PASU) an student organization at Stanford University. The main goal of PYLC is to give Filipino youth a safe space to talk, learn, and educate each other about Filipino heritage and culture. Each year, PASU comes up with a different theme, this year’s being magkaisa or unity. Our workshop was about 5 different Filipino movements, how unity was the key essential to it and how it can relate to us today. The earliest movement being the 1500’s and most recent being in the 2010’s here in America. After the workshops, the conference ended with an open mic with performances from the youth. Then there was a cultural night event. For more information on PASU or PYLC, visit:Â http://pasu.stanford.edu
