HENERAL GREGORIO DEL PILAR

Heneral Gregorio del Pilar, often referred to as the “Boy General” of the Philippine Revolution, is celebrated as one of the youngest and most valiant military leaders in Philippine history. Born on November 14, 1875, in Bulacan, he was a dedicated patriot who joined the revolutionary forces during the Philippine struggle for independence against Spanish and American colonizers. Del Pilar earned his reputation for bravery and strategic brilliance at a young age, particularly during the Battle of Tirad Pass on December 2, 1899. In this iconic last stand, he led a small band of Filipino soldiers to defend the retreat of President Emilio Aguinaldo from pursuing American forces, sacrificing his life for the cause of freedom. His courage and dedication have made him a symbol of youthful heroism and unyielding nationalism in the fight for Philippine independence.
