Warrior Shield
$24.00Taming shield is a large, round wooden Moro shield. The front is decorated with rings of black and of elaborate carving while the back has a hand hold through which the left arm is slipped so that the hand grasps the top of the second opening. This shield is used in warfare to deflect spears and arrows. This style of shield is also commonly used by the neighboring Moro groups, and may have been borrow from them. When not in use, the shield is slipped over the shoulder using a rattan band attached to the back. Certain charmed roots and plants are often attached to the shields, in the belief that they will ward off danger.
