The authenticity of Filipino culture was alive in the UnKonference. From the vendors to the attendees, it felt like a safe haven to be immersed in the discussions of the colonialism and true self-identification. I was honored to be in a room filled with powerful leaders that promoted the idea to unify the Filipinos. I could honestly say I was overwhelmed, as a Filipino myself could I even say I’m cultural shocked by my own race? In this situation, I was. There was so much knowledge it was hard to intake in one day. The workshops taught different aspects of cultural awareness in which, I didn’t even know about myself. It’s was an experience that I couldn’t get anywhere else, very unique in it’s element. I look forward to the next one. Thank you!
