We facilitated two rounds of workshops at Stanford University for the Pilipino American Student Union’s annual Pilipino Youth Leadership Conference on March 4th, 2017. The goal of PYLC is to empower high school youth by opening up a safe space for them to learn about Filipino history, culture, higher education, community, and social justice. Their theme for the conference this year was “Bayan Ko, Bayan Mo” which translates to “My Country, Your Country.” This was our 3rd year facilitating a art and history workshop for the high school students. This year, our workshop was titled “Know History, Know Self. No History, No Self.” We taught and shared to the youth the art and stories of Lapu-Lapu, Gabriela Silang, Jose Rizal, Andres Bonifacio, Philip Vera Cruz, and Larry Itliong.
